This golden combination is available to all travelers who choose Park City as their winter vacation destination. The city hosted part of the competitions in 2002, when Salt Lake City hosted the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, and will repeat the feat in ten years. Salt Lake City has been confirmed by the International Olympic Committee as the host city for the 2034 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, marking the return of the event to the United States and the capital of Utah after 32 years. Just 35 minutes away, Park City will host the freestyle skiing, snowboarding, Nordic jumping, bobsled, skeleton, and luge competitions. The official site of the 2002 Winter Olympics, and scheduled to host again in 2034, Utah Olympic Park in Park City hosted a grand celebration on Wednesday night (July 24), 2024, when the official announcement was made. Many local dignitaries were on hand to “Celebrate 2034!” at Utah Olympic Park, including Tana Toly, Mayor Pro Tempore of Park City. In addition to Utah Olympic Park, other venues in Park City that are confirmed to host the games include Deer Valley Resort, Park City Mountain, and Soldier Hollow. “As part of a family that has been in Utah for eight generations, I have seen the positive impact that being a host city has on our community, especially our youth,” said Tana Toly. “To host the world's best athletes on a global stage not once, but twice, since the turn of this century is truly historic,” celebrated Mayor Pro Tempore.

  1. UTAH OLYMPIC PARK
    Since hosting the Games in 2002, Utah Olympic Park has been open to visitors free of charge to its two museums – the Alf Engen Ski Museum and the Eccles Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Winter Games Museum – and offers a range of leisure activities, including venue tours for visitors In addition to its focus on recreation, the Olympic Park is one of the official training sites for the U.S. Olympic teams. To experience the excitement of the athletes, try a bobsled ride on the Olympic track. “We are proud to be a cornerstone of recreation, world-class training, and tourism in Park City,” said Colin Hilton, president and CEO of the Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation.
  2. SKI WITH AN OLYMPIC CHAMPION                                                                                                                                                                         Deer Valley Resort offers a unique opportunity: ski with one of eight Olympian and Paralympic athletes as part of the Ski with a Champion program. The experience is open to intermediate and advanced skiers for groups up to six people. They can sign up for a half day or a full day. Another tip is to check out the mogul and slalom courses.   3. WELCOME SQUARE
    Pass by the Park City Welcome Plaza landmark, at the intersection of Park Avenue and Kearns Boulevard, and learn more about some of the events that took place there in 2002. You can access the area on foot or by bike to see the spot, or it is a stop on many guided tours offered in Park City.
  4. TRAVELING  DURING THE WINTER
    Those who have their trip scheduled for early February during a non-Olympic year, guests can experience another historic moment: the Freestyle Skiing World Cup that takes place in Deer Valley. In 2026, the mogul and aerial competitions will take place in January due to the 2026 Winter Olympic Games, and it will be one of the last stops for qualifying for the Olympic Games. Guests can watch these events for free and under the lights at Deer Valley Resort. You can also buy a ticket and secure a spot in the VIP tent, with food and drinks.
  5. 5. FOR THE MOST EXTREMELY ADVENTUREOUS
    At Park City Mountain, the tip is to check out the half-pipe and terrain parks that are open to the public and challenge the skills of the most extreme athletes. Host to the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, the 22' Eagle Superpipe has also hosted several Grand Prix and Olympic

    Visit Park City/Park City Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau, the City of Park City, and Summit County will work together to develop a 10-year action plan to ensure that residents and businesses are best positioned to welcome the world to Park City. “Getting input from stakeholders will help inform our vision and create the action plan for the 2034 Games,” says Nann Worel, the city's mayor. Input will be solicited through online surveys and focus groups comprised of past leaders, stakeholders, government officials, athletes, youth athletes, hospitality partners, and venues to ensure a broad range of community segments are involved in planning for the global event. “This setting highlights both the celebration and the reward that comes from training,” shares Jennifer Wesselhoff, president and CEO of Visit Park City. “This announcement is a huge victory for the community.” “This is a great opportunity for our state, but it's also just the beginning as we begin to plan for the next decade,” she concluded.
